The Short Version
- We don't require accounts and we don't know who you are.
- The SWIFT codes you check are public bank identifiers and are not stored in any profile or history.
- We never ask for account numbers or any personal payment details.
- We don't sell, rent, or share data with anyone.
What We Process
Lookups. When you check a SWIFT/BIC code, it is used to produce the result and discarded. SWIFT codes are public bank identifiers and contain no personal information.
Rate limiting. To keep the free API fair, we count requests per visitor using a one-way hash of the IP address. These counters expire automatically within 48 hours and cannot be reversed into an IP address.
Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard access logs (IP, URL, timestamp, user agent) for security and abuse prevention. They rotate automatically.
Analytics. With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (pages visited, country, device type). It loads only after you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner, and only then sets its cookies (names starting with _ga, kept for up to two years). If you choose "No thanks", or make no choice, no analytics code runs and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Limited under its data processing terms and may be transferred to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Your cookie choice itself is stored in your browser (localStorage) and never transmitted.
Preferences. Your light/dark theme choice is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never transmitted.
Third Parties
- Google Analytics (traffic statistics), Google Fonts (typography). Both receive standard request metadata when your browser loads them.
- Our hosting provider processes traffic to serve the site.
No advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no social media embeds.
Your Rights
